Wyoming Outdoor Council

Views from the Red Desert in Wyoming.

Indigenous people stewarded lands, water, and wildlife in Wyoming long before the colonization of the west. Tribal governments and Indigenous communities have powerful knowledge and unique opportunities to lead in the climate crisis and natural resources management. Through the introduction of new administrative approaches and placed-based opportunities for learning and connection, WOC's Indigenous conservation program is working to develop an Indigenous-led perspective of stewardship and an approach to addressing the climate crisis that promotes cultural teachings.
